A NEW LEASE ON LIFE
Devotees lie inside coffins as Buddhist monks officiate at a ritual at Wat Takien temple in Nonthaburi province yesterday. Believers at the temple participated in a resurrection ritual, laying down in coffins while monks pass a cloth over them and chant a dirge for a symbolic death. Then they rise up again believing that they have been cleansed of their karma and bad luck, and reborn for a fresh start in life. The ritual was also meant to confer protection from harm, wealth, good health and wishes fulfilled.
